In 2024, the Longgang District Health System in Shenzhen focused on enhancing public health services, driven by the principle of "Healthy Longgang, Shared by All." Through comprehensive reforms, talent cultivation, and the promotion of intelligent and digital transformation, the district has seen a significant influx of high-quality medical resources. This progress aims to ensure that every patient receives excellent medical care and to establish Longgang as a benchmark for public health and well-being.

Reform Efforts Yield Tangible Benefits

Longgang Central Hospital has been a pioneer in implementing no-family-member wards, where trained medical attendants take over patient care, relieving families of the burden. This initiative has been well-received and is part of the district's broader efforts to standardize and improve patient care.

The hospital also made strides in medical research by digitizing doctors' patents, leading to increased industry collaboration and the first medical institution in Shenzhen to conduct a national intellectual property transaction. These achievements are part of Longgang's commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation and reform.

Hardware and Software Enhancements

The Longgang District Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital completed its relocation and reconstruction at the end of 2024, becoming the largest specialized hospital of its kind in China and the only one in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This project is part of Longgang's push to enhance its healthcare infrastructure, with four hospital projects completed in 2024, adding 1,600 new beds, and five new community health centers established, bringing the total to 183.

In terms of software, Longgang has seen significant improvements in medical services. The district has received several national accolades, including being named a pilot area for the "Healthy China, Stroke Recognition" initiative. Additionally, several hospitals have achieved national-level certifications and have established partnerships with universities and research institutions to drive high-quality medical development.

Technological Integration and Innovation

Longgang has embraced technology to enhance healthcare services. In December 2024, a successful drone delivery of medical samples demonstrated the potential of integrating low-altitude resources for medical logistics. The district is also leveraging 5G and AI technologies to create a smart healthcare system, with the Hua Tuo GPT intelligent guidance and pre-consultation system being implemented across all public hospitals in Longgang.

Looking ahead, Longgang plans to further its digital transformation by developing an "AI+Family Doctor" management platform and expanding smart healthcare applications. The district aims to foster innovation in medical devices, smart wearables, and other health technologies, positioning itself as a leader in AI-driven healthcare solutions.

Conclusion

Longgang's comprehensive approach to healthcare reform, infrastructure development, and technological integration is setting a new standard for public health services. By continuing to invest in both "hardware" and "software" aspects of healthcare, Longgang is poised to meet the growing medical needs of its population and enhance the overall well-being of its residents.
